Bootstrap Add Gutter Between Columns

Grid columns are created by specifying the number of 12 available columns you wish to span.

All breakpoints extra small small medium large and extra large. To make the grid responsive there are five grid breakpoints one for each responsive breakpoint. Columns have horizontal padding to create the gutters between individual columns however you can remove the margin from rows and padding from columns with no gutters on the row. We can size our columns with 50 of the width of the viewport for the first div. Columns create gutters gaps between column content via padding. On a big screen it might look better with the content organized in three columns but on a small screen it would be better if the content items were stacked on top of each other. And a background color will fill the padding as well.

That padding is offset in rows for the first and last column via negative margin on rows. For example we can write. We can use it to space and align content. The 2nd is sized 67 when it s sm or above.

Bootstrap s grid system is responsive and the columns will re arrange depending on the screen size. Though you should be able to get the desired effect by setting the background on inner boxes.
